EveAfrique Magazine’s Red Ball for Charity 2018.

EveAfrique’s Red Ball for Charity is an annual nonprofit flagship awareness event done in the spirit of social responsibility in order to spread awareness, and give back to the society. On the 24th in an evening of classical and contemporary music, we will once more be hosting Port Harcourt’s finest at one of the most highly anticipated events of the year in support of Colon Cancer Awareness and Prevention.

As a family and lifestyle magazine, EVEAFRIQUE moves with the mandate of searching out and creating regional icons in business and enterprise with the view of using their stories as a mentoring tool.

This year’s Red Ball is in support of COLON CANCER AWARENESS.

Colon cancer has been a vaguely discussed issue in Nigeria despite its over 40 year existence amongst us, and further affecting both sexes. It is the third most commonly diagnosed cancer among Nigerians. It is a lifestyle disease and awareness of its existence is important as a way forward to its eradication.

The dress code this year is: PASTEL PINK WITH A TOUCH OF DARK BLUE. We will be embarking on an all round movement to spread awareness around the urban and rural populace in three local government areas in Rivers State thereby bringing the existence of this health menace to an end.

Over the years, we have carried out very successful programs supporting the development of the Niger Delta, such as:

Supporting the Motherless  (2011): This included a visit to Susannah Homes, located long PH/ Aba express road. The centre is managed by donations of well-meaning Nigerians and Dr. Mrs. Hendricks; the owner of Susannah Homes.

Sickle Cell Awareness (2012): We stood in partnership with Sickle Cell Interactive and Management Association (SCIMA), an NGO managed by Mrs. Ifeoma Ifejika. The highlight of this event was the adoption of a child with sickle cell anemia by one of our partners, Stephano Piotti.

Cervical Cancer Awareness and Prevention (2013): 30 women benefitted from the free cervical cancer screening by EveAfrique. The Praying and Charity Wives Foundation (PRACWF) sponsored the screening of about 70 women. They completed the three doses of immunization and treatments were also given to those with signs of cervical cancer cells. This act was also spread to some churches.

Diabetes Management-Awareness and Prevention (In 2014)EveAfrique and the Diabetic Association of Nigeria partnered for this diabetes awareness powered event. Free glucose tests were carried out on the attendees and free health advice were given by doctors.

Impacting the Next Generation for Economic Growth (2015): Over 50 copies of the book, ‘Fifteen Laws of Money’ by Ifeanyi Eze were given out to help in achieving the said purpose of impacting the next generation for economic growth. Also held in 2015 were other programs like the THE GIRLS DAY OUT with the theme SEXUAL ABUSE IN CHILDREN AWARENESS AND PREVENTION.

Prostate Cancer Awareness and Prevention (2016): We held an interactive and enlightening session with Dr. Jack Omodu and another session with Dr. Adekunle on erectile malfunction. 20 men benefitted from the free prostate cancer test after the ball. The Steph Foundation, one of our partners, sponsored 15 men for the tests.

The Woman and Her MUSTs (2017)EveAfrique Magazine as part of her Red Ball activities hosted the MUSTs Event at The Presidential Hotel in 2017. As a result of this epoch event several Female Leadership and Business Clusters have emerged thereby filling the gap in the Socio Economic development of the Niger Delta Region.

EveAfrique Magazine has also received several awards as a result of the impact of her charity work such as her Cell Awareness and Management’ award by SCIMA and an award by Alcon NIG LTD for her effort in ‘Promoting Societal Awareness in Health Issues.’
