GENEVIEVE NNAJI’S DIRECTORAL FIRST TIME PERFORMANCE “LIONHEART” SET TO PREMIERE AT TIFF
Nnaji, a Nigerian actress and singer, is a first time director of a movie “Lionheart”, which will premiere at 2018 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).
The movie presents a lady whose father has a troubled bus company, Lionheart Transport. She goes extra mile to save her father’s business after her uncle tries running the business to rest on the buttom.
In the movie, Genevieve stars as Adaeze, Pete Edochie takes on the role of her father while Nkem Owoh features as Uncle Godswill.
Based on a synopsis on TIFF’s website, we have it that, “Lionheart” depicts penetration of gender inequality in work places and captures the delicate balance between honouring one’s family while finding the courage to strike on one’s own.
Other celebrities in the movie include Chika Okpala, Yakubu Mohammed, Steve Eboh, Sani Muazu, Kanayo O. Kanayo, Jemima Osunde, Onyeka Onwenu and Kalu Ikeagwu.
Also, some Nigeria music artistes, such as Peter Okoye and Phyno make a cameo in the movie.
The 43rd Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) will run from September 6 to September 16, 2018, screening over 300 films from more than 60 countries to make an estimated capacity of 400,000 attendees annually.
However, Nnaji’s “Lionheart” will hold its world premiere on September 7, 2018, the actress had spent many years in front of the camera where she starred in movies like “Ije”, ” Half of a yellow sun” and “Blood Sisters” before she eventually climbs the throne of a movie director.
