A 400-level student of the Cross River State University of Technology (CRUTECH), Joseph Agbor was on Tuesday, crushed to death by a fellow student who drove a car in the campus.
An eyewitness narrated the incident saying that the victim was sitting by the drainage while waiting for his lectures when the car driven by a 200-level undergraduate rammed into him.
The Public Relations Officer, Mr. Onen Ebri Onen, said from the information available to him, that a student approached another and asked for the key to his car in order for him to take some items from the car. After he got the key, instead of removing the items and returning the key, he decided to drive the car away. In the process, he rammed the 400-level student, Joseph Agbor.
Mr. Onen Ebri addressing the state of the victim said, “The victim is now in the mortuary; the car was impounded by the school security outfit and the driver and the owner of the vehicle are with the police.”
The state Police Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Irene Ugbo, confirmed to Punch News that the killer driver had been taken into custody.
“He is with us. Why was he driving recklessly on the campus? We are investigating whether he was drunk at the time the incident happened and we want to find out other causes of the accident,” she said.
