Huawei reveals Mate X bendable phone

Huawei, the Chinese smartphone maker, in February unveiled a super-luxury 5G phone with a folding screen called the Mate X with a price tag of €2,299 (£1,995).

Richard Yu, the chief executive of Huawei’s consumer business, said the Mate X represented “a voyage into the uncharted. As a new breed of smartphones, Huawei Mate X combines 5G, foldable screen, AI and an all-new mode of interfacing to provide consumers with an unprecedented user experience,” he said.

Huawei says the Mate X is the “unprecedented world’s fastest foldable 5G smartphone.”

The phone company also mentioned that its position as a manufacturer of 5G network infrastructure has given it a unique advantage because the company was able to test the phone on internal 5G networks before release.

With the Mate X, users have the freedom to fold. You can unfold it in a second and use it as an 8’tablet to browse news, watch videos and play games. It’s a phone and tablet in one. It’s also thinner than you might think, and as well as packing some premium specs (including the Kirin 980 processor.)

The phone also has multitasking proficiency with its split-screen mode. The jewel piece of the phone, which is the 5G network is with the Huawei Balong 5000, the world’s first 7nm multi-mode 5G chipset, which achieves the industry-leading 5G download speed.

Foldable phones are poised to become the next big thing in the wireless world. Samsung, the world technology leader, is also set to launch it’s foldable phone in April 2019. The phone is called the Samsung Galaxy Fold and will go on sale in the US on April 26 and on May 3 in Europe. 

Other tech brands like Xiaomi, Motorola, and LG are also working on foldable phones with different specs that are sure to interest adventurous phone users.
