Port Harcourt International Airport and Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport are now in the final stages of getting international certification, says the Federal Authority of Nigeria.
The Airports are being certified by the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority to meet the safety standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization for International Airport globally.
The airport certification is one of the requirements of CAO and the NCAA and it covers security, safety and equipment, among others and is done on five stages, the last being the presentation of the certificate of the management of FAAN.
The Minister of State for Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika recently stated that the certification of the two airports has been ongoing for a while and that it had reached its advanced stage. He also confirmed that it would be achieved this year.
