Niger Delta Youths Receive N14m Grant From SPDC

The Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) has given cheques worth N14m to over 35 in its LiveWIRE entrepreneurial program.

The News Agency Of Nigeria reports that the event took place in Effurun, Delta State where each of the beneficiaries got N400,000 as a business start-up grant.

The General Manager, External Relations of SPDC, Mr. Igo Wali said at the event that the programme launched in 2003 had produced 6,687 entrepreneurs.

Wali who was represented by the infrastructural manager, SPDC, Mr. John Uduaghan, said that the programme was targeted at powering youths in the communities.

Wali said that the programme is part of the global shell LiveWIRE social investment programme which enables young people to start their own businesses and also create employments.
