NNPC inaugurates Egbaoma gas plant in Delta State

Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Dr. Maikanti Baru, commissioned the Egbaoma Gas Processing Plant on Saturday, which cost $60 million. The gas plant is operated by PNG Gas Limited and is located in Ebedei, the Ukwani local government of Delta State. 

At the inauguration, Dr. Maikanti Baru stated that the plant is a good step to the end of gas flaring in the country, saying that the journey to the effective use of our gas resources is fast approaching.  He shared that the new gas flare regulations which were issued in 2018 is also aimed at reducing the environmental impact caused by natural gas flaring. He noted that the country “will soon start seeing the results of the federal government’s efforts.”

He also disclosed that plans to expand the gas pipeline infrastructure were ongoing. The expansion will include the Obiafu-Obrikom to Oben gas pipeline which is located close to the Egbaoma Gas Plant.
